The Petition
We demand immediate action to sign a successor agreement to the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START); to ratify the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT); to secure all vulnerable nuclear material in Russia; and to negotiate a treaty that makes deeper cuts in nuclear weapons stockpiles.
If we do not make substantial progress on these goals in the next 15 months, the greatest opportunity to reduce the danger of nuclear weapons since the dawn of the Atomic Age will have passed us by. This is unacceptable to millions of Americans and people all over the world who hope for a safer, more secure future.
