Feb 12, 2014
Washington DC – February 12, 2014 – News Release – Council for a Livable World has announced its endorsement of Shenna Bellows for U.S. Senate.
“I’m very excited to be receiving the endorsement of Council for a Livable World, a group that has long supported Maine candidates working to make Mainers more secure and the world a safer place,” said Shenna Bellows on the endorsement. “The best path to lasting global security is through strategic diplomacy and strong international relations.”
Over the last five decades, the Council has been highly involved in supporting Congressional candidates from Maine including Senators Angus King, Edmund Muskie, George Mitchell and William Hathaway and five members of the House of Representatives including both incumbent Representatives. “For decades, the Council has supported great Maine leaders such as Senator King, Congresswoman Pingree and some lucky folks like myself,” said former Maine Congressman Tom Andrews, chairman of Council for a Livable World’s PeacePAC. “Shenna Bellows is another great Mainer and she’ll be a champion for the state like Senators King and Mitchell. I’m glad to see the Council making this early move to endorse her and I look forward to seeing her lead in the Senate.”
“We’ve already begun fundraising for Mrs. Bellows and our supporters have been generous in their support of her campaign,” said John Isaacs, executive director of Council for a Livable World. “She is the type of energetic, thoughtful and progressive candidate that really engages our supporters.”
Council for a Livable World has supported bipartisan, forward thinking policymakers on national security and foreign policy issues since 1962. In the 2012 election cycle, the Council raised $2.1 million for its endorsed Senate and House candidates. Bellows makes the Council’s 16th endorsement for the 2014 election cycle.
