Gerald Warburg

Gerald Warburg is a Professor of Public Policy at the University of Virginia. Previously, he was the Executive Vice President and Director of Cassidy & Associates,. A leading Democratic lobbyist in Washington, D.C., he has extensive experience with a wide range of clients from international clients to U.S. corporations to non-profit organizations, cities, and schools.

Mr. Warburg has more than a decade of experience as a senior aide to members of both the U.S. House and Senate leadership. As Legislative Assistant to U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Alan Cranston on Trade, Defense, and Foreign Policy, he coordinated the Senator’s work on the Committees on Foreign Relations, Intelligence, and the International Finance and Monetary Policy Subcommittee of the Banking Committee. Prior to that, he served as Legislative Assistant for Energy, Environment and Trade issues to U.S. Representative Jonathan B. Bingham, Chairman of the International Economic Policy and Trade Subcommittee of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Warburg was also an aide to U.S. Senator John Tunney on the Joint Committee on Atomic Energy.

He has been a Visiting Lecturer at Georgetown University, Penn, Stanford, Brookings, and Hampshire and has been published in the LA Times and Foreign Policy. He is the author of Conflict and Consensus: The Struggle Between Congress and the President Over Foreign Policymaking, and a novel, The Mandarin Club.

Warburg holds an M.A. in political science and international relations from Stanford University and a B.A. in political science and education from Hampshire College.
