No First Use and other smart policies that limit nuclear risks

If the United States uses nuclear weapons first, a nuclear-armed adversary is likely to retaliate against us or our allies with nuclear weapons. Keeping the threat of nuclear first use on the table is an outdated and dangerous policy. A No First Use policy just makes sense.

Manhattan Project nuclear physicist Leo Szilard founded Council for a Livable World in 1962 to deliver “the sweet voice of reason” about nuclear weapons to Congress, the White House, and the American public.
