PURPOSE: Sense of Congress that the United States should extend the New START Treaty from its initial termination date of February 2021 to February 2026 as provided for article XIV in the treaty. If the treaty expires without an extension, the President is required to provide Congress why the treaty was allowed to expire. There is also a requirement for certain reports and briefings to Congress.
