Rep. Annie Kuster was first elected to Congress in 2012 and was reelected in 2020 with 54% of the vote.
Born and raised in New Hampshire in a family of community leaders, Rep. Kuster gained an appreciation for the good that government can do for communities and people. Before her election to Congress, she maintained a private adoption practice in which she helped hundreds of New Hampshire families adopt children.
She is a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the House Agriculture Committee.
Rep. Kuster has a very strong voting record on Council issues. She has supported amendments to prohibit funding for a new intercontinental ballistic missile, to reverse wasteful increases to the defense budget and to block the development of new low-yield nuclear weapons and a return to explosive nuclear testing.
After Russia invaded Ukraine, she declared “Vladimir Putin initiated a deadly, unprovoked attack against the sovereign nation of Ukraine, directly violating international law, killing innocent civilians, and threatening the safety and security of the region and the stability of the world.”
