Jon Ossoff for Senate (D-GA)

Sen. Jon Ossoff is running for reelection after he won a major upset election in Georgia in 2020 with Council support. Sen. Ossoff beat incumbent Sen. David Perdue with 50.6% of the vote in a runoff. Ossoff is the only Senate Democrat up for re-election in a state that Trump won and the Republican’s number one target in 2026.

Georgia remains closely divided and the last two presidential contests were decided by less than two percent. Ossoff has a proven track record on behalf of his constituents but will face a tough challenge once Republicans determine who their nominee is.

In the Senate, Sen. Ossoff serves on the Appropriations, Intelligence and Rules Committees. He also serves on the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water which allocates funding for the nuclear-focused National Nuclear Security Administration, among other things.

Sen. Ossoff has a solid background on national security issues. He has a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics. Sen. Ossoff worked as a national security aide to Rep. Hank Johnson for five years. The Senator also investigated war crimes, corrupt officials, and organized crime for international news organizations through his multi-Emmy award winning investigative television production company called Insight TWI.
