Congressman Andy Kim represents New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District, one of just seven across the country held by a Democrat that was also won by Donald Trump.
Andy has dedicated his entire career to public service. As a Rhodes Scholar and leading national security expert, he previously served at the White House, Pentagon, State Department, and in Afghanistan as strategic adviser to the Commanding General.
He was first elected in 2018 when he unseated a Republican incumbent and author of Trump’s healthcare repeal bill. Andy’s historic victory made him the first Korean American Democrat ever elected to the House of Representatives and the first Asian American from New Jersey elected to federal office.
In 2020, Andy outperformed the top of the ticket to win re-election by eight points, despite Trump also winning the district. He is the only Democratic person of color representing a district that Trump won.
Andy grew up in South Jersey, the proud son of Korean immigrants, and is now raising his two young boys just a few miles from where he grew up.
