Chrissy Houlahan is running for re-election in Pennsylvania’s 6th district. She is the first woman ever to represent this district in Congress, and the first Democrat in 160 years. She is the daughter and granddaughter of Holocaust survivors.
Houlahan is an engineer by training, graduating from Stanford and later MIT with an M.S. in Technology and Policy. She is also a former Air Force Captain who spent three years on active-duty and another 13 years on inactive reserve duty.
She has had diverse experiences. She worked as a chemistry teacher and was a Teach for America Corp member. She also has served as chief operations officer of several startups, including one that promotes good business practices.
In her first term, she serves on both the House Armed Services and Foreign Affairs committee. In key House votes this year, she has opposed President Trump’s new low-yield nuclear weapon for submarines and supported extension of the New START nuclear reductions treaty.
