Rep. Colin Allred first ran for Congress in 2018 with the Council’s endorsement and ousted a Republican incumbent. He was reelected in 2020 with Council support in a 52%-46% victory.
A former collegiate and pro-football player, he worked as a special assistant in the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of General Counsel during the Obama administration and as a civil rights attorney and counsel to national and state political candidates and advocacy organizations.
He currently serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, and House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
He is a strong proponent of investing in clean energy to protect our planet for future generations, and create good jobs along the way. He strongly supports a diplomacy-first foreign policy to strengthen democracy across the globe. In order to promote stability and peace, and prevent catastrophic wars, Allred is in favor of new arms control negotiations and opposes the development of new kinds of nuclear weapons.
