Mondaire Jones for House (D-NY-17)

Mondaire Jones was elected in 2020, with the help of Council for a Livable World, and served in the House from 2021 to 2023. He made history as the first openly gay, Black person ever elected to Congress. His colleagues unanimously voted him the youngest member of House leadership, and Axios named him the most legislatively active freshman in Congress.

Congressman Jones was part of the most productive Congress in modern American history. He took on the pharmaceutical companies, lowering prescription drug prices for thousands of seniors on Medicare in the Lower Hudson Valley. He brought people together and helped negotiate passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which is bringing tens of billions of dollars to New York State to rebuild roads, bridges, and waterways. He helped pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which is the first major gun safety legislation in 30 years, and he helped pass the American Rescue Plan Act, which kept small businesses open and brought hundreds of millions of dollars to schools, housing and health care.

Jones is a passionate advocate for a more just foreign policy for our country. He supports a more responsible defense budget, reinvesting in the State Department and a diplomacy-first approach to U.S. foreign policy. On the Council’s issues, Jones had an excellent voting record in Congress.
