The United States will spend at least $1.2 trillion (not adjusted for inflation) to maintain and modernize its nuclear arsenal over the next 30 years. An unnecessarily bloated nuclear weapons budget will draw resources away from the emerging threats of the 21st century.
Council for a Livable World believes that YES, the United States can maintain a safe, secure and effective nuclear arsenal for less than the current estimated costs of $1.2 trillion over the next 30 years.
