Toss up in Colorado Senate Race

Senator Michael Bennet (D) is closing the gap with Tea Party candidate Ken Buck (R), and he needs your help. The most recent polls show Buck leading Bennet 48% to 45%, a virtual tie and an improvement from August when Buck was ahead by 9% points.

Support Michael Bennet today and help him pull ahead of Ken Buck on November 2.

Council for a Livable World supports Bennet because of his strong commitment to national security issues. He backs President Obama’s new treaty with Russia for reciprocal deep cuts in nuclear arsenals as well as ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. He supports the President’s goal of securing and retrieving nuclear weapons-usable materials worldwide and the Kissinger-Schultz-Nunn-Perry vision of moving toward a world free of nuclear weapons.

Ken Buck, on the other hand, is a tea party candidate who has a number of strange views.  He recently compared homosexuality to alcoholism. He questions Social Security, student loans and other government programs. At a recent event, Buck said about global warming, “Sen. Inhofe was the first person to stand up and say this global warming is the greatest hoax that has been perpetrated. The evidence just keeps supporting his view, and more and more people’s view, of what’s going on.”

Senator Bennet is in the midst of a tough battle where outside groups are spending heavily, so please contribute today to his campaign.

Senator Michael Bennet has been a fine addition to the U.S. Senate and an outstanding public servant who will make a difference for years to come.

Help keep a strong advocate of progressive arms control initiatives in the Senate.
