Washington, D.C. – Council for a Livable World today released a new YouTube video mash-up highlighting statements made by several Republican presidential candidates threatening the use of nuclear weapons against Iran.
During the last GOP presidential debate on June 5, four Republican candidates – Mitt Romney, Duncan Hunter, Jim Gilmore, and Rudy Giuliani – expressed willingness to use nuclear weapons in a preemptive strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities.
John Isaacs, Executive Director of Council for a Livable World, stated: “Nuclear weapons are not something to be brandished for domestic political purposes.
Isaacs concluded: “Being a strong commander-in-chief requires a commitment to strategic deterrence with the lowest possible number of nuclear weapons. These candidates’ schoolyard bullying lacks the sophistication of a true leader.
