The Council For a Livable World has endorsed two of the Democratic primary candidates vying for the late Frank Lautenbergâ€™s Senate seat ahead of the August 13 primary election. Citing their progressive approaches to a myriad of issues, the Council said they can back both Newark Mayor Corey Booker and Congressman Rush Holt.
â€œMayor Booker and Congressman Holt have shown a true commitment to pursuing a common sense national security policy that reduces the expenditure of taxpayer dollars on wasteful and outdated nuclear weapons,â€� John Isaacs, executive director of Council for a Livable World, said in a statement.
While the Council had previously endorsed Holt, this is the first time theyâ€™ve backed Booker.
