Victory in Colorado Democratic Primary

Michael Bennet (D-CO)

Tuesday evening, Senator Michael Bennet (D) won a primary victory over his opponent, former state senate president Andrew Romanoff.  Bennett, who was endorsed by Council for a Livable World, now faces a tough race against Republican Tea Party candidate Ken Buck.

With 100% of the precincts counted, the results are:

Michael Bennet — 54.2% and 183,521 votes

Andrew Romanoff — 45.7% and 155,016 votes

Also Tuesday evening, Buck (R) upset the GOP establishment favorite, former lieutenant governor Jane Norton, by about 13,000 votes.

All the political experts call the general election contest a toss-up.

While many Democrats backed Romanoff, now is the time for progressives to get behind Bennet in the general election. Romanoff has pledged his full support for Bennet in this upcoming battle.

The Colorado Senate seat is important for progressive hopes in the next Congress.

Bennet supports the New START nuclear reductions treaty and will also vote for the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.

Contribute today to Bennet and keep Tea Party candidate Ken Buck out of the U.S. Senate.
