Introducing Eric Tamerlani, our newest addition to the Council and Center staff who joins the team as the new Policy Associate. Meet Eric:
I am delighted to join the Council for a Livable World and the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation as a Policy Associate and to continue to work to reduce our reliance on military solutions and towards a world free from the threat of nuclear weapons. To be welcomed into the nuclear arms control and non-proliferation community is an honor and responsibility which I humbly accept with zeal. I join the brilliant and hard-working team at the Council and Center, and am eager to work with my colleagues in the community to achieve our goals.
I previously worked at the Friends Committee on National Legislation (Quakers) as the Program Assistant for Nuclear Disarmament. We lobbied for reduced nuclear weapons-spending, increased nuclear non-proliferation spending, and the removal of the B61 tactical nuclear bomb from five European nations. Prior to my experience with the Friends Committee, I was a research intern at the Arms Control Association, working with their expert staff on the publication Arms Control Today. During the last two election cycles, I did communications consulting at a private voter-contact firm helping to elect progressives across the country at the state and federal level.
In 2012, I graduated from DePaul University in Chicago with a B.A. in Political Science. During college, I was a Deputy Voter Registrar with the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners, registering my fellow students and neighbors to vote. I also interned with an independent City Councilman during his reelection campaign and was the Treasurer of DePaul’s College Democrats.
That’s the recap of the road behind me, here’s to the road ahead! Over the next year or two I hope to help sharpen the Council’s public advocacy campaigns, lobby for re-balancing our national security policies, and encourage young people to get engaged.
