Washington, D.C. – With more than 95 veterans from 34 states running for election to the United States Congress as Democrats this November, Council for a Livable World's Veterans’ Alliance for Security and Democracy (CLW-VETPAC) will hold an event to introduce and honor these military veteran candidates on Tuesday, August 26 at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
CLW-VETPAC’s “Future Leaders of America event will include a press conference featuring Democratic military veteran candidates and current Members of Congress, followed by a meet and greet with veterans and elected officials from across the country. The press conference will take place Tuesday, August 26 at 6:30 PM in the RocHenge SKYBOX Conference Suite at Coors Field.
The honorary co-hosts for the press conference and reception include Rep. John Salazar, the sole veteran from the Colorado delegation, as well as Sen. Patty Murray (WA) and Reps. Joe Sestak (PA), Phil Hare (IL), and Tim Walz (MN).
“I am honored to host these patriots in my great state," said Congressman John Salazar. "I look forward to meeting them and to working with them in Congress. This event will make a vital contribution to their success at the polls in November."
The number of veterans running as Democrats for Congress this year is unprecedented, including many who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"As a proud military family member, it is gratifying to see so many Democratic veterans stepping up one more time to serve our country in this time of need, said CLW-VETPAC's Vice President, Lorin Walker. “We are ready to do everything we can to aid their triumphant journey to Washington."

CLW-VETPAC was formed by American Veterans and military family members to promote the principles and values for which members of the armed forces have served, fought, and died. Working together with the American People, CLW-VETPAC embarked on a "search and rescue" mission to promote national leadership that will help us rescue America's future from policies that threaten our national security, our civil liberties, our country’s economy and, indeed, our Constitution. CLW-VETPAC intends to help our comrades explain to America why the Democratic Party is more qualified to protect America in a post 9/11 world.
