Washington, D.C. . . Council for a Livable World today announced its endorsement of U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin for Senate from Wisconsin.
Baldwin is running for the seat of Sen. Herbert Kohl, who is retiring.
John Isaacs, Council’s executive director, call Baldwin “a staunch progressive and a champion of middle class values.
Council for a Livable World, founded in 1962, has focused on smart national security policies and worked extensively in 2010 to win bi-partisan Senate approval of the New START nuclear reductions treaty.
The Council, which raised $1.3 million for Senate and House candidates in the last election cycle, promised fundraising assistance to Baldwin, who it called a staunch opponent of unnecessary wars abroad and excessive nuclear weapons at home.
