Washington DC – October 22, 2012 – News Release – The Council for a Livable World reaffirmed its long standing policy in favor of carefully targeted sanctions, severely punishing Iran for its multiple violations of its international obligations, its vehement opposition to an Iranian nuclear weapons program and its continued commitment to a world free from the security threat posed by nuclear weapons.
"Council for a Livable World abhors the repressive Iranian regime that stifles dissent and is a state sponsor of terrorism. We firmly oppose any Iranian effort to develop or acquire nuclear weapons," said Council for a Livable World Executive Director, John Isaacs.
"We actively support smart, targeted and effective sanctions against the Iranian government and military from the United States and the international community. And we remain committed to reducing the security threats posed by outdated nuclear weapons programs ill-suited to addressing the security risks of the 21st century."
The Council for a Livable World is a non-profit, non-partisan advocacy organization founded 50 years ago dedicated to reducing the dangers posed by nuclear weapons and increasing national security. Its mission is to advocate for sensible national security policies and help elect congressional candidates who support them.
We have supported both Democrats and Republicans and raise contributions from individuals for candidates that average $146.
