Washington, DC- Today, Council for a Livable World’s PeacePAC announced three new House endorsements for California: Rep. Lois Capps(D) Rep. John Garamendi (D) and Mark Takano (D). Council for a Livable World is happy to announce these endorsements of progressive candidates who will promote sensible foreign and defense policies in the House of Representatives.
Rep. Lois Capps is fighting for her seat in California’s 23rd Congressional District. Due to California’s new redistricting, this seat is a battleground and Capps has a fight ahead of her. Council for a Livable World is confident that this progressive candidates who, has earned100% on Council’s voting scorecard for the last eight years, will fight through the battleground and come out on top once again.
Rep. John Garamendi is the incumbent in California’s 10th Congressional District. He is a key player on arms control and national security issues. Due to redistricting Garamendi has a tough re-election challenge and is a top Republican target.
Mark Takano has a twenty year record as a local elected leader and is running in California’s newly created 41st Congressional District. Takano’s Japanese American heritage and personal understanding of the horrors of nuclear weapons gives him a unique perspective on peace and nuclear disarmament.
