Council for a Livable World today applauded the Senate for passing an Emergency Supplemental Appropriations bill that sets a goal of March 2008 for withdrawing most American soldiers from Iraq. The Supplemental was approved 51-47 with Sens. Hagel (NE) and Smith (OR) the only Republicans voting in favor.

Council for a Livable World applauded the Senate for holding an important vote today on the war in Iraq. The resolution offered by Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) would have required President Bush to begin a troop withdrawal from Iraq within 120 days of adoption while establishing a goal of pulling all combat troops out by March 31, 2008.
