Presidential Candidates Respond to Seven Key National Security Questions

Council for a Livable World submitted seven critical questions on national security issues to all declared presidential candidates from both parties. Joseph Biden, Hillary Clinton, Christopher Dodd, John Edwards, Barack Obama, and Bill Richardson responded to the Council’s questionnaire. Their responses exhibited noteworthy unity while differing on some important details.

Former Colorado Congresswoman Patricia Schroeder Named New PeacePAC Chair

Council for a Livable World’s PeacePAC announced today that it had named former Colorado Congresswoman Patricia Schroeder to become its new Chair. Schroeder succeeds the late Father Robert F Drinan, who passed away in January after a long and distinguished career in public service.

House Approves a Permanent Ban on Permanent Bases in Iraq

Council for a Livable World today applauded the House of Representatives for overwhelmingly voting, 399 to 24, to bar permanent military bases in Iraq.

Trench Warfare, Not Blitzkrieg, Characterizes Anti-War Struggle

Council for a Livable World likened the struggle to bring American troops home from Iraq to the slow trench warfare of World War I, not the Blitzkrieg of World War II, after this morning’s Senate vote on the Levin-Reed amendment.
